"Just a quick follow-up note on the SMS Earth Drive: (1) it's an outstanding pedal, truly (2) it has replaced my former overdrive pedal I was unsure how the Earth Drive would pair with my gear, as most references that i found online weren't with Gibsons. But it sounds absolutely GREAT - I primarily use a vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb (AB763 circuit) and Gibson LP Standard for reference. "One post above describes the Earth Drive as the "sweeter" of the two, and while it's subjective I would agree-- the clipping of the Earth Drive doesn't sound like typical diode clipping to me.... If there is diode clipping happening, Brad has tuned out any harsh overtones. Even with the Drive cranked it's smooth, never buzzy… For my tastes & gear (teles, vox, tweed) there is something special about the Earth Drive. Natural, slightly buttery breakup, good mid presence that sits beautifully & helps the OD sit forward a touch in the mix for rhythm without a boost in actual volume."
